LIVER CIRRHOSIS & AYURVED:

This is the condition in which we would really want patients to come to Ayurved, no matter how much advanced the disease is. Liver Cirrhosis is the end stage of liver failure. It can be caused by many possible causes, notably ALCOHOL, Hepatitis B and C. The most precise term used for Cirrhosis in Ayurved is Yakrit Dalyudar, still, other terms have been used as synonyms which indicate various signs, symptoms and stages of Cirrhosis, for e.g. Yakrit vriddhi, Jalodar, Kaamala etc. Texts have a detailed description of Liver Cirrhosis ranging from the causes, symptoms and most importantly the medicinal treatment. The efficacy of Ayurved in treating Cirrhosis is so much that even very advanced cases can be dealt with medicines. It can be very definitely said that AYURVED can treat Cirrhosis chiefly with medicines.

The real question is how does Ayurved treat Cirrhosis by medicines. This is because Ayurved firmly believes that the progress of Cirrhosis can be definitely halted. Not only that, the liver cells can be revived to function up to a great extent. There are many marvellous medicines to achieve this. Also, specific medicines are indicated for various complications of this disease. It must be remembered that Cirrhosis is a very grave disease and requires prompt treatment from all angles. Modern medicine has developed the technique of Liver Transplant for end stage of liver failure and/or complicated stage. We also do appreciate the technological advances in modern medicine which can save the lives of patients in an emergency situation. Many such patients require hospitalisation for various reasons and technology makes this possible. But here we are focusing on those cases that have developed Cirrhosis gradually over many months or years (due to any cause). Eventually, most of such patient’s liver would stop functioning or liver function would be reduced so much that they can’t survive on that liver. Ayurved can very effectively treat such cases and can be of much help for such patients who don’t want to undergo LIVER Transplant ( due to any reason ).
